The End
« on: April 13, 2012, 07:48:16 AM »
Do we get to fight dragons in SMP?

As far as I know there would still be a dragon in The End in SMP.

I'm friggin excited.  We haven't even made it to the Ender realm.  We need to have an Ender adventure!

Let's.

My understanding is that you combine an Enderman's eyeball with Blaze dust. Then you toss it up in the air and it flies in the direction of a stronghold. I've heard you need a stack or so. Then you raid the stronghold and at the end is an End Portal. Then you have to... do something to the End Portal and you can use it to travel to the End.

Ok. I might be able to work with that. I have work to do but I can't see myself working all day straight. I should be able to swing enough hours for us to have some adventure.

No worries. It's not like I'm going to be sitting at my house that whole time. There's just potential I won't have anything going on for once.

If I have time I'll go raid some of my other storage rooms and collect as much iron and diamond at spawn for armor and weapons. If I don't have enough, I'll see if I can buy it from the villagers with crops. Then we won't have to waste too much time doing that.

I went to bed around 5pm your time. Checked quick to see if you were around before I crashed. It looks like it's midnight now. So much for sleeping in. I have no idea what I'm doing today at all.

I woke up at 4:30am to drive my Dad to the airport, got back home seven hours later after breakfasting, shopping and stuff… and then somehow I was too sleepy to work yet to awake to sleep.  A great feeling if I hadn't had work to do.

The glitch put us back at the little hole we were camping at. The one where Pianoman found all the iron.

I decided to set up a more permanent camp to keep hunting for Ender Pearls. I may have got carried away. Only one new Ender Pearl though.

Oh, and if anyone dies and gets sent back to spawn, just take the road south. When you pass the big hollowed out mountain, turn east and you should hit the spot.

I'm not sure I spawned there. The place I'm in looks familiar, like I've been there before. It's built into a low artificial hill, surrounded by two moats lined with Jack-o-lanterns. Or is that the place?

New dragon plan.

- Full enchanted diamond sets of armor, enchanted diamond swords, enchanted bows, and a ton of arrows.
- Backups for when we fall into the void.
- Expand the island so that we're less likely to fall into the void.

I was pretty disappointed in The End. It was bland and the dragon's flight, wiping out all non End blocks, was really frikkin annoying. I also left The End and am back in the real world for some more building. I'm gunna build some pretty shit.

I don't think it's intended to be a new realm like the Nether. It's primarily an arena for the dragon boss fight. They physics of the dragon would screw with the normal world too much to just let him loose there. The End is a container for him.

I was pretty off on my idea to build a base there. I guess it'd be fine for a base after the dragon is dead, but then why bother.

I've moved to doing prep work just outside of the stronghold. Prep work is boring, so I keep getting distracted, but I'll have enough supplies soon enough. By chance, trading with villagers has allowed to convert a lot of readily available material into diamonds, weapons, XP bottles, etc... so that distraction was actually really helpful.

Good thing we didn't take out the dragon yet. He's getting sound effects in 1.4 (days away). Now I can hear his anguished cries as I run him through.

We should slay the dragon with lanky. He's going away in 3 weeks. If not before then, than we'll have to wait another 2 months, I think.

I really wish we could have a nicely decked out End base. It's just so lame that it disappears when the dragon flies by.

We can. We just have to kill the jerk first.

The kid moved the whole base down about 50 blocks "because the dragon can't fly that low". It can.

I started widening the island to hopefully prevent falls off the side. I should have enough supplies soon. This is very doable.

Hahaha... he told me he'd created a platform down below, but not about shifting the entire base!

He also asked me if I was near a bed. I answered no. He then asked me if I could log off for a moment while he slept.

He's your cousin.

I'm collecting XP faster than diamonds, so there's a surplus of enchanted bows. This is going faster than expected overall though. I've also been doing some trading with the villagers to convert less valuable stuff into diamonds. I'm all over this.

P.S. I don't. I love it. I love my mines. I hone the design every time.

The new design consisted of jumping into a pit right through the portal. Turns out momentum carries over through the portal. The process resulted in a 100% mortality rate. I've added inertia dampeners and that seems to have done the trick.

You have a serious disease. Fortunately, it appears to be treatable with lots of Minecraft.

While the great roads may not be architecturally as amazing as buildings, I consider them one of the great projects. I also count the sandstone temple as one of the other great projects. Just how many projects are we going to start before we finish them all?

I think I'm going with a variation on the left one.

The only problem with it, is that it obscures the columns. I chipped away the outermost layer on the top and that seems to give everything enough pop.

I also started putting obsidian and endstone on one facade. I'm worried that it clashes too much with the stone and stone brick, I'm worried about collecting enough endstone, and I'm worried about going through hundreds of diamond pickaxes fixing my mistakes with obsidian. I'll post a picture for input when I get to it.
