I'm not sure what I'd ever do with them, but Fireworks.

They're good fun. Not very useful, but fun.
Set them up in dispensers, wire the dispenser to a door or cart track or something.....really make an entrance!

In Arizona, we have the ability to purchase fireworks but it is illegal to use them 364 days out of the year. One town near me allows them to be set off on Christmas. Stores are currently stocked with fireworks because they know people willfully break the law on July 4th. So stupid.
If the hell I'm supposed to pay is coming due, I will write the devil another IOU.

My first thought is... fireworks = alarm system.
Anything crosses the threshold, and the sky lights up! O.O And, and... an alarm sound like when the red lights flash on a submarine... and! and, hide your glowstone and bring out some redstone torches and flash them...

OK, flashing redstone torches as part of the alarm might be difficult. But the rest would be relatively simple!
LOL @ Pam... if I had $20 for every time someone used that word with me... well....

I'd probably have like $60

Flashing redstone torches can be done, it's just challanging, and really difficult to make it look good with all the wiring required.

Something i was working on in one of my other worlds was a system where at night, the gates on my walls would shut and glowstone lamps would turn on automatically. Hugely complicated, and really hard to not make it look ugly. But i'm working on it.
I have sketches of ideas to try.
I shall try anew in the lankyland server, if it ever goes back up.

Never fear, the server will go back up. We just need Superman to Return... hah.. no pun.

Was your gate system based upon time? Wouldn't it just be so much easier to have a daylight sensor? .... Nooootch! Daylight sensor, please.

Actually yes, it was using the light sensor that was brought in about 3 months ago.
It needs an inverter circuit attached to work as a night time sensor.

There's a daylight sensor? Hah! That should be a pretty standard gate, then... unless your gate is huge. In which case, such gates are never simple.

Well, the problem is it's a light sensor, not a dark sensor, so it needs an inverter circuit to invert its signal. plus you'll then have 2, maybe 3 inputs on the one gate (buttons on either side to open it + light sensor). That requires huge amounts of additional wiring, hence it's complicated and big.

Buttons on either side? What's the size of your gate?

Well that's just as an example. If you had a 3x3 piston door (or gate) you'd need a button on either side so you could open or close it from either side.

Ah, I was mistakenly thinking left+right.

Yeah, stuff starts to get cramped when you create 3x3 gates. But a 2x3 gate is relatively uncramped!
