Thanks, I appreciate all the back-ups. Is it easy to do? Is it just an op command that I can do? Cuz then I can also keep it backed up.
I use an ftp transfer to pull the files directly off of the server. It took a while to set up the first time, but I have streamlined process now.
The only problem is that you'd need my roommate's log in. I imagine he's already hesitant to have me on there and wouldn't be crazy about a third person having access to that account. At least now, if he gets a bill for a 500 person sever tomorrow, he knows who to punch.
I'm more than happy to figure out a way to make sure more than one of us has copies though.
What is the file extension for the backups?
level.dat
uid.dat
All of the region .mcr
All of the player .dat
Whatever junk is sitting in the Data folder
It takes maybe 20 minutes to pull it all down over an ftp client.
Also, the server needs updating to 1.2.1...
1.2 is out‽
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Thb-VoooGc&feature=relatedI'm going to do a back up at work just in case the update breaks anything. If any update is going to break our map, this is the one.
Also, for the future, it's usually a good idea to bypass the update the first time and see if the server is updated first. We're almost always going to be behind. I'm also always a little skeptical of new releases. I see 1.2.1 came out the same night as 1.2. They tend to get things really wrong a lot.
