Treehouse
« on: February 24, 2012, 02:06:28 AM »
My cousin is really excited about his tree house. It sits just southwest of Spawn.

I'm trying to convince him to trade in all the stone for logs, but he's still at the early, I'm going to build with whatever is in my hand right now, mode.

Holy crap, I really like that.  I love seeing others design and construct.

For all the superficial faults I find on the outside, it's actually a pretty cool design inside. It's pretty much a fully sustainable base (actually, it provides the materials for its own expansion), but it feels like a treehouse. There's some crosses between vertical and horizontal traveling, that intentional or not, are pretty cool.

So he decided to jump from server to server giving out our server address. He got two people to come play on our server. Guess how that turned out for his treehouse.

I'll be doing more frequent back ups and watching the log more closely.

Yikes.  I just saw it about half an hour ago and thought it seemed a bit different to the picture previously posted.  It's a lesson in cynicism for your young cousin.

Yeah. Telling him to be careful who he invites wouldn't have had anywhere near the same impact.

I mostly just wish I could get up there and retreive all the missing booster rails and carts.

*groan*  Any idea how many of those were lost?  Probably something worth a couple of stacks of iron.

Not to worry, though.  There's plenty more in the earth.  See the picture attached?  That's from the bottom of a new mine I whipped up a month ago.  My biggest shaft yet at 7 metres square.  I think it's around X = 1843 and Z = 631.

Awesome. Where is that?

I've been refurbishing the original mine under spawn. It looked really cool before the update that made the underground so dark.

It does have a downside in that if you mine west, you'd mine into spawn. Also, the shafts hit old shafts a lot, so it's not super efficient sometimes. It's a fun minecart ride up and down though. The new access point is just east of spawn on the north side of the road. Between Pianoman's tree and the spawn, but closer to spawn.

As for the new minecart/mine entrance near spawn, I think I know where you mean.  The one with all the boosters, and which runs straight through the farm we set up a while back?
