I found some quartz. It actually seems plentiful enough. Harvesting it with ghasts is pretty hard. Harvesting the amount I want is never happening.

I built a tiny villager breeder only to find out they don't trade it.

Going back to smooth stone.

If you go to the temple, take the sand delivery road north, turn left at the first intersection, follow the road to the little base, then jump into that nether portal, you'll find a little cobblestone road that leads to where there is quartz and my charred remains.

Quartz is nice.
Solid clean white blocks, or slabs, or you can make pillar patterned blocks or some other pattern.
Looks it up on youtube.
