So as cool as repairing is, you have to admit it's a little too simple. Introducing anvils.

You can repair, repair enchanted items (you can't right now), and rename items. It sounds like the new features will cost XP.

Added bonus, anvils fall like sand and gravel and cause increased damage based on height. Good news, I'm going to stop throwing axes at you.

The new snapshot added repairing tools using raw materials. So you could add one diamond to a diamond pickax to repair it.

Diamond pick ax plus 1 diamond and about 20 levels will repair it slightly.
Almost depleted enchanted diamond pick ax will need approx 8 diamonds plus 30 levels to repair almost fully.
It's a great idea for an item that has your favorite enchantments, but it is costly.
