Ender Chests

Now this is genius. An Ender Chest shares its contents across chests. So you could put one in one of you bases, fill it with tools, go to another base, place a second chest, and those tools would be available. It also works across dimensions.

Very interesting.
LOL @ Pam... if I had $20 for every time someone used that word with me... well....

I'd probably have like $60

I've started putting a few of these down. Specifically at key points along rails. If you see one, throw a minecart in it so you'll always have one. Also, if anyone else wants to start distributing them, that would be great.

Do Ender chests have a limited amount of space? Like, it doesn't matter how many we put down, they'll always have access to the same space?

Yeah, it's one single chest that shares it's contents across all the chests.

I'm going to use one to haul endstone back.

I think you should always have a few minecarts in it though. That'll be really helpful once we get them spread out.

The items stored are unique to whoever opens it.
So i could fill it with stone, someone else could fill it with carts.
I would only see stone, he would only see carts.

They were devised primarily as a way of stopping people stealing your stuff in SMP, but they have other practical applications aswell.

I started placing them around transportation routes before I got distracted from the game. I think they're amazing helpful.

They can be hugely helpful.
An idea would be to have them along the transport routes as you have described, and at small bases off the beaten track.
