Want to buy a PS3?
« on: November 16, 2009, 13:38:59 PM »
I don't endorse PS3 at all but a mate at work is selling his stuff to save money for an operation to save sight in one of his eyes **tiny violin playing**  AND this particular PS3 is  from one of the earlier batches that actually had backwards compatibility with PS2 games.

He's offering:
  • 1 x PS3
  • 2 controllers
  • GTA IV
  • Guitar Hero 3 and some other games that he's abbreviated on this post-it note so that I don't recognise them. Looks like 2 Gran Turismos, WT... AS?   Look, you get 5 games or something.   Wow, I was way off.  2 GT = 2 x guitars.   WT = World Tour.  AS = Aerosmith (= fail).  So you get 3 Guitar Hero games and 2 guitars.
  • 5 pre-loaded movies

for $600.

This PS3 must go or his eyesight will.

Anyone interested?

If it's backward compatible.. why don't you want it? I don't have $600 for him :(
Only you would bring up Music Man here.  ...and have it be totally relevant.

Guy's gonna be so bummed out when he sits down after his operation and thinks:

"I'll play a little GTA to celebrate... oh wait!"

I'm trying to sell something for someone and you want me to list the reasons why I wouldn't buy it?  You're breaking my balls.

I don't have time, I don't have money.  A simple no will suffice, Denise.

Not much point in owning a PS3 if you're blind.  I pointed that out to him this morning when he said how much he'll miss "her".  I laughed so hard at his face.

Tell your friends!  You know, the more successful-at-life friends that have money and don't spend all their miserable lives trolling forums so may have the means and opportunity to benefit from this offer.  The ones that aren't losers like you people.

Also, I clarified what his stupid abbreviations meant and updated in the OP.

That's like laughing at an ugly woman who had to give up her vibrator.

Sorry, I have the image of some ugly chick with a dildo in my mind now and the closest I can get to hilarious is kinda grossed out.

This PS3 must go or his eyesight will.

I think we all know what really causes men to go blind.

I'd love to buy it (he can keep his games...), but I'm jobless and living off my emergency funds until I find another job.

Perhaps he was using his PS3 and HDTV to view image galleries on his PC? I hear you can do that with some games consoles.

I think he should keep the game system and try to raise funds some other way.  Car washes are very popular charity events in the US.  Or he could always beg on the freeway exit ramp.

If the hell I'm supposed to pay is coming due, I will write the devil another IOU.

Oh wow, that would add to the funniness of his predicament.  I'm going to pass that suggestion on.

Hell, I'd give him $10 just to stop this conversation!

Oh, I'm not laughing at the eye condition. It's the being without the luxury items that I laugh at, because he's always telling me about the awesome expensive things he buys, and because he'll get most of the money back on Medicare, so it's only temporary.  Even if he has to take out a loan, it'll be paid back straight away.   But I think it's much better to cancel your internets for a couple of months, drink less expensive scotch and lose a gaming console rather than have to pay interest on a loan.

It'll be character building.

But how will he build his character without the PS3 to play The Game on?

Is it? No internet connection for a couple of months? No booze? No video games? I don't think so. But then I have the deeply skewed priorities of a person whose life consists only of those 3 things plus TV. I'd rather pay interest on a loan. In fact I'd risk blindness if sight wasn't vitally important for most of those things listed.

"Character building" really means "makes you bloody miserable but we are trying to put a positive spin on it".

Well, when I say character building I really mean "harden the fuck up, you pussy" but I realise that's a bit of a high standard to impose on you children.

Should I ever have kids I'd teach them "don't accept shit because someone tells you it is character building".

I think the use of 'comedy' is a bit of a stretch. ;)

I guess it's dependent on knowing who Uncle Chop Chop is.

Also, it's not the comedy or lack thereof which matters, but the message.  Harden the fuck up.
