Ah, my, that's kinda funny. I can't imagine playing a game drunk. Although, blind drunk (i.e. memory loss) probably means you don't care what you're doing at the time. I can attest to that. I don't get that drunk any more…
LOL @ Pam... if I had $20 for every time someone used that word with me... well....

I'd probably have like $60

I notice a lot of the comments say epic.  Isn't that on your hate list or something?

“Epic” just seems to be what game meatheads like to say.

I like the word, just not when I hear it being used to describe something that isn't epic.  Another definition for epic is, "of unusually great size or extent: a crime wave of epic proportions."

This drunken killing spree was epic.  I'd agree, because he killed a lot of people.

If someone says, "I tied my shoes with one hand, epic!" then I'm going to shake my head.

If you say so.  I generally play games where killing people is the objective, so I suppose I fail to see what's so epic about it.  Explain, please.

Killing people itself is usually not epic.  Say it's a fight between two highly skilled people, there's a good chance it'll be an amazing fight, that's epic.  If it's one vs. many, a big fight, then how they defeat all of them might be epic.  If it's many vs. many, then again it's a big fight, and that's epic.  Though one person could kill someone in an impressive way and that might also be epic.

This picture is epic.

If it's grand, majestic or impressively great.

Oh boy. I know what the word means. I'm more or less asking what the objective of the game is, or why the fact he killed a bunch of people is epic? Like I said, I'm accustomed to playing games where you do that anyway, so just the fact he woke up to a bunch of dead bodies doesn't seem grand nor impressively great. I've never played the game, so I don't know. Is it really so difficult to kill people? Or is it like Fable where you have a reputation, and now his rep is fucked? I'm just not seeing the epic-ness. Make me see it.

Because it was a non-stop slaughtering of every NPC he came into contact with.  He massacred NPCs from every town in the game.  The difficulty was on normal. He was wearing bad armor, but had a decent sword.  Guards would be tough, and citizens would probably do some damage to him.  He did gain a lot of infamy, but that's mostly pointless.  The thing that was affected was the bounty for all of his crimes which was 99757 gold.  Which is a lot.

I think of epic as a greatness that will stand the test of time. Something inspiring. Sorry. I will grant it's impressive and amusing, but epic seems too strong of a word. If it was so epic he wouldn't be going back and restarting from pre-booze saved game files.

Okay yeah, that makes sense.  The only reason I could think for restarting was that his sober self wanted them to be alive and to do quests and stuff.  Though I still agree that if it was that great then he wouldn't have.

In other news, I'm getting older soon.   :ohnoes:

In this case, not epic. Which is why the word is being degraded. It's funny. The aim of the game is NOT to kill everyone. It's a role-playing game in which you interact with the world just as you might in real life. To wake up to a slaughtered city and even slaughtered horses is pretty funny, given that he can't remember doing it. Of course, if you woke up in real life after a drunk bender to find all your compatriots murdered you might be a little less prone to laughing.

Definitely amusing, but I think we have all agreed the alleged epic status has been refuted.  I have been sober, stripped my character to damn near nakedness, and armed them with a piss ant dagger for shits and giggles.  The fact he was drunk was impressive, as I said I would grant.  I can actually imagine him sitting there in his drunkeness shouting things like "I am such a fucking badass, I can do this shit without armor!  Everyone must die!"  However, I would like to submit to the court it seems a rather sad waste of a buzz on.

That's amazing.

Tainted, I've never played Oblivion, but I know of it. I think your Fable (also never played) analogy is probably right. It'd be like if you could kill NPCs in FF if you wanted to, but they'd start ganging up on you if you became too much of a dick. This guy was playing as pretty much not a dick, but then woke up to discover he had become the biggest serial killer of all time in just four hours.
