One less dumbass sitting in a public funded school?  One less kid wasting public money for an education he's too lazy to ever take advantage of anyway?  I'm not seeing a problem.

The question becomes why was he struggling at school? Was it due to poor teaching, bullying or some other aspect?

Some people just do shit at school.  It's a one-size-fits-all system that doesn't fit all.    I think forcing him to stay at school so he could fail some more, when he'd found something he loved and could succeed at would be just stupid.

It's just as likely he sucked at school because the school system was failing to educate him as it is that he was failing to apply himself to his studies.  Also, school seems really pointless at times.  I have to wonder what my education to this point has been for, as I sit forumming on a 38.5K salary in a dead-end job helping semi-literate teachers pick from a selection of 2 computers named "Basic PC" and "Advanced PC".

Of course, if he fails at that, his parents will have to deal with him living at home, so it's their funeral.

I agree. His grades have improved since his parents hired the home tutor, the only disadvantage being the financial burden. The point I like is that the kid clearly wasn't happy in school and now is, and I'd argue that is why his grades are improving. It's consistent with the education line that it works best when the subject is happy and interested. The kid's following his dream, how bad is that?

Guitar Hero offends my Christian upbringing.  Why can't there be a Gutar Hero full of inspirational Christian songs?  Oh wait, there is.  Guitar Praise

How did they do it?
Take "Talk Dirty to Me"(GH3):
Cause baby we'll be
At the drive-in
In the old mans ford
Behind the bushes
Till Im screamin for more
Down the basement
Lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me

And replace the words:
Cause baby we'll go
get some Churchin'
In the old mans ford
Talking about Jesus
Till I'm screamin for more
Down the basement
Lock the devil's door
And baby
Talk Jesus to me

SOMEONE PLEASE STOP IT!TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!

*Censored for Cider

My brother just bought Rock Band
(click to show/hide)
My bother and I beat it in one sitting.

One of the cool things is that you can use the controllers from GH.  I've heard that other games with specialized controllers like that aren't interchangeable.

The game play itself isn't much different from GH.  It does only let you play one of each instrument at a time in co-op.  We had two guitars, so one of us had to be bass each time.  That was a little lame, but I'm over it.  I do like their version of star power.  If you're using it, you can still accrue it.  I like that a lot.  The solo feature is pretty cool too.  I've heard that on the Rock Band guitars there's another set of buttons at the base of the fret board for solos.

The band specific part was kind of a let down in the light of the upcoming Beatles version.  Apparently it'll have a cool story line type thing where you'll follow the formation and life of the band.  I don't know if those kind of gimmicks add to or detract from the game.  From what I've read of it though, it sounds pretty cool.

Okay.  Forget Rock Band.  I got my brother Guitar Hero: World Tour for Christmas.  It is by far the best of the bunch yet.  If one so desired, they could also get the drum kit and microphone for it and do the whole band thing.  If you have one of the current gen consoles, you can download a shit ton of new songs.  Rock Band took a step ahead of GH for a bit there, but with World Tour, GH pulls well into the lead again.

Yeah, well, I'm still playing GH3.   I'm on the last 4 songs for career on Hard, but the solos are too difficult.  Jones still sucks at it on Easy, so I have no one to impress but myself.

Try those on expert Spider, then complain about difficult solos.

You do know that the GH3 guitars work with the new version right? So you could just buy the Game disc and not bother with the singing or drumming

And the same mechanics. It's just a brand new song list that can be expanded almost limitlessly.

I don't remember if we ever posted stuff about the Beatles Rock Band game.

My understanding is that you basically play through the Beatles' career.  Even if you're not a fan of the Beatles, it might be worth keeping an eye on how well it does to see if they try to do the same thing for any other bands.

And yeah they have a few other bands doing songs in there.. Toxicity by System of a Down is one of them...

I'm looking forward to GH5... Anyone heard the playlist for it yet? Got some decent stuff on there from what I can remember....
I just lost the game....
