Wired has an amazing article about the downfall of Duke Nukem Forever.  It's a really good read.

Not without George Broussard or 3D Reals at the helm, and certainly not with a payable demo.

Probably wait until next gen and the 3DS comes out. It's what pokemon is waiting for.
Only you would bring up Music Man here.  ...and have it be totally relevant.

Almost as good as the what went wrong with Ion Storm... which is one of the best articles I've ever read.

Yeah, I read it a while ago when it was posted and thought it would make for an interesting documentary.

Once again, I need the sarcasm icon.

Firstly, his name is John
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Romero

Secondly, it would be pimp
http://archive.gamespy.com/articles/june03/dumbestmoments/index20.shtml

The studios that they had, the resources, they lived like KINGS man. No joke.

George Romero made zombie movies.

John Romero at least makes video games, so closer but still not there.

Many people compare the stories of Duke Nukem against the failure of daikatana - which was John Romero and Ion Storm (see my posts regarding both above). Sorry, I thought you knew about daikatana and were being obtuse. My apologies.

I have heard of Daikatana.  However, you made the jump from Duke Nukem to Daikatana to John Romero to George Romero in one step and left me wondering why the hell you were talking about making a documentary about a zombie movie director in the Duke Nukem thread.

@Pam: that was a top article. For some reason, it's more interesting to read in-depth about game developers than, say, movie makers.

I just found out in a video you can go to the bathroom.  You hold down right trigger to pee and you can grab poo and throw it. He makes comments about it.

That among other things will have me stay away from this game.

Quote
What's bothering me after a few hours of play is how difficult Duke Nukem Forever makes it to enjoy the shooting parts. There's an overlong introductory sequence that does nothing but awkwardly glorify Duke's shallow, vulgar personality. Shooting sequences are constantly interrupted by weird puzzles and character dialogue that's about as entertaining to listen to as the rattle of subway trains. Then there's a bizarre vehicle sequence where Duke, after being shrunk down to a miniature size, needs to speed around in a toy car across broken floors and boost to clear jumps. The poor level design often makes stages unnecessarily confusing to navigate, and the inclusion of clumsy platforming sections is all the more off-putting.

I'm not sure what else one would expect of a Duke Nukem game. Duke Nukem is a shallow, vulgar individual. I'm not sure about grabbing poo but poor level design would certainly help to crucify this highly regarded FPS.
