You know I've never actually played it.  It's an old Square game, right?

I can't actually remember who made it. It was an rpg for the snes, I have the rom and an emulator laying around on my hard drive at home somewhere, but it was just an awesome fucking game.Basically an early final fantasy, but centered around time travel.
The story is fantastic, and actions in game change the outcome. You get a total party of i think....8 characters to choose from, to form your group of 3. Typical roles abound, melee guy, magic girl, healer person etc etc.
I also like how what choices you make change dialouge and affect the storyline. Like for example, (spoiler alert)
(click to show/hide)

Just an awesome game for its time, I played it multiple times with different character choices for different dialogue scenes, and making different choices about what actually goes on in the game.

Yeah, I've heard good things.  Especially from FF buffs.  I guess that's why I assumed it was by Square.

I can attest to Lankdog playing it many times. Why he just didn't actually buy the game I'll never know...

Cause it would take me way too long to go and find a snes and then also find a copy of the game itself. Compared to the 3 minutes it took me to download both a rom and emulator online.

Chrono Trigger was released between Final Fantasy VI and VII.  I haven't played it, but I consider VII to be the best RPG ever, and other FF players fight over VI and VII for the same title, so Square were in their element at that time.  Chrono Trigger gets honourable mentions so I'd expect it to quite good for its era (the mid 90s).

Wow, the queen of RPGs hasn't played Chrono Trigger? Do you want me to email it to you or something?

Also, you remember that time when we were talking about RPG and you didn't know what "RPS" stood for? Oh the hilarity!

Wait.  What does RPS stand for?  Crap.  I thought RPG and RTS were good enough.

So according to my sources, they are re-releasing Chrono Trigger on the Nintendo DS.

Not major news by anyone's standards, however it is a good chance for the ignorant masses who never experienced this awesome game to give it a shot. I am only hoping that it will still retain its classic feel and not be as expensive as Cider's mum was to hire for a night.

I was brought up with Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest).  Oh how I love that game.

Erdrick (Loto) is quite literally my hero.

OMG that looks like a scene from Chrono Trigger. If they are making a PS3 version of that game, I will kill them. Fuck Sony.

What would be wrong with remaking Chrono Trigger?

Yeah, I suppose, but if Square did it using their FF skills nowadays, I think it would be awesome.

Chrono Trigger for the DS is a reality. I'm a little scared how it contains "the classic essence", and what they took out/changed to "improve" it for the DS, touch screen, dual screen, etc etc.

I'm going to download this when I get home tonight, hell, if they haven't blocked my rom site I might download it now.

Urgh, Japanese style role-playing games suck. Go play a real RPG like Baldur's Gate. :P

Fuck you, Kibble.  You can't just ride in here being awesome and suddenly switch gears into douchebaggery with statements like that.  You'll pay for this.

Baldur's Gate = hack'n'slash. It shouldn't get to be termed rpg.

I bloody well can and I bloody well will. It is part of my 'charm'.  I'm like a bag of revels, sometimes you get the coffee. :P

Pay?  ;D

The likes of Diable are arguably hack and slash but Baldur's Gate had more role-playing on the first CD than most modern RPG's do. Baldur's Gate and Fallout between them saved the CRPG genre. Plus we also have the awesome 'Planescape: Torment' from some of the same team.

Anime and Manga suck too.  :D

Well, except that you get to play it on a system you own now and still works reliably.

I played the first section of FF I about 20 times back on NES.  I wasn't until the GBA port that I could play the whole game without it crapping out on me.

Play it on DS. It's the best version ever, and PORTABLE! And FREE!!!
I used to think piracy was bad, because I first heard about it by people who didn't understand it. I understand piracy now. Piracy is good.
