I like Moonlight Sonata.  One of my goals is to learn to play it this year.

Mark Lanegan.... hmmm...  **wikis** aha! I thought I knew that name!  I should check that out also (the album, obviously, not the gig).  I approved of him in Queens of the Stone Age, but I didn't know him from anything else and I've not heard much about him since.

Well I just received my piano and bought the sheet music for Moonlight Sonata.

Let's just say it's going to be quite a while before I can play the whole thing... or even just the first page...

Rob Dougan is the same guy who did the song Clubbed to Death for the 'Woman in Red' scene from The Matrix. He has great songs, but his instrumentals are great as well.

okay.

this is going to sound weird, but there are two songs I heard this weekend and CANNOT stop thinking about.

You remember when you're like 12 and have sex for the first time even though its not REAL sex coz she has no hair? This is kinda like that. Awkward but tight.

Anyway:

Electric Six is the band. Two songs are:
DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE!
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/aQQeg3jYgOA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/aQQeg3jYgOA</a>

and

GAY BAR

Also, good idea on posting the You Tube links.  I needed to listen to a song the other day, and it finally dawned on my to just search You Tube for a music video.  This will make it easier for people to actually listen to our suggestions.

Some radio stations are okay, but the problem is not catching who they've just played, unless they have playlists on the net.  I enjoy a lot of what FBI plays some nights, but I don't listen to the presenters in between.  Or internet radio.  That's good also and you can see what they're playing.

The best way to catch on to a new band that you like is to always turn up for the support acts to any gig you go to. That's how I came to love Spod.  But I don't go to gigs anymore.  So I am sad and lacking musical fulfillment.  Cough cough omar cough cough.

For those into electronica www.di.fm is great.  Even better if you are with Internode as they stream these stations for free usage.

The problem isn't the radio it's the radio station.

I was listening to hard house on FBi last night.  Hard house!  I hate house music, with a passion!  But these guys made me like it.  There was also some four on the floor, trancey stuff with dancehall vocals.  I have to describe it in this retarded arsey way because I have no idea who the artists were.  But it was great!

I'd never listen to that shit of my own accord.

we have a lot of community radio. i even used to listen to my ex-boyfriend's radio show which was done up the street from my house with his friend playing their own CDs. he played a lot of CDs from independent and unsigned local bands that he bought at their shows, and would advertise what gigs were on every week.

i think 5 people listened to it. but it was good.
