Holy crap!  To go along with the percent symbol (%), there's also a permille (‰), and a permyriad (‱).

Interesting. Did they come about before the decimal system? Otherwise, I could say 1‰ or 0.1% interchangeably.
LOL @ Pam... if I had $20 for every time someone used that word with me... well....

I'd probably have like $60

Wiki gives me no history.

Yes, your usage looks correct to me.  I'm sure some CEOs could find this quite helpful when they're forced to reveal their salaries.

Ah, I don't normally laugh out loud... I would love to see them explain that their employees all received a 100 pay rise!

I've come across these before. I don't know their history, but thou art correct, Superman, that they are used as modes of deceptions in prospectii and other published information on a company, most often by less-than-legal organisations.
Only you would bring up Music Man here.  ...and have it be totally relevant.

I don't understand how the symbols are used.

% is 100s, right? So is the permille thousands and the permyriad 100-thousands?

Hey, are you allowed to use scientific notation with percentages?  Can I say 2 x 10-5% or is that... not... a thing?

Umm, it makes sense to me. I don't see why not, but I don't think I've ever seen it. Maybe that's just not the convention. Are there mathematic equivalents to grammar Nazis?

I thought maths was all Nazi.  It's so Nazi, there's not even room for non-Nazism.
