lanky, I disagree. Motivational posters aren't just meant to be a simple flexible convention for adding captions to a funny picture. It's meant to be a parody of real motivational posters as well. So I think what you've presented there is oversimplified. In my opinion, it should go like this:

Otherwise, what's the point of going to the trouble of adding the stupid borders and picking the appropriate serif font.
The exception to the rule is stuff like "My pokemans - let me show you them", because pokemans is not an abstract noun, but it's still a noun followed by the punchline. The fail way would be "Let me show my pokemans - they're awesome" or something like that which is the format that most crappy motivational posters take these days.
THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. I hope you understand that.
